Whole School News 2016/17

Friday 11 November 2016

The school held its annual Remembrance Service at the memorial in Thorp Arch. The school gathered with parents and carers and the local community to remember those who have died in war: the soldiers who gave their lives in World Wars I and II, servicemen and women who have died in conflict since then and those who continue to lose their lives in the present day. We also remembered doctors, nurses and aid workers who have lost their lives helping others in war zones. Our collective remembering showed the value that we place on the lives that have been lost and reminded us of the cost of war and importance of continuing to try to build peace on Earth.

Monday 24 - Friday 30 September 2016 Year 6 pupils had a fantastic week on residential at Carlton Lodge! The children rose to the challenges of the adventurous activities and of being away from home for the week.  They supported and cheered each other on – recognising when others had worked hard to conquer any fears - and showed excellent behaviour during the residential. The children had great fun together; the residential is a super way for them to begin their final year at LEH. Thank you to staff who accompanied them during the week, especially Mr Smith who was with the children throughout. The children enjoyed the high ropes, zip wire, caving, gorge walking, raft building, kayaking, climbing, bouldering, bush craft, archery, orienteering and a night walk.

Wednesday 21 September 2016  Children from Class 5 prepared and led worship today. They reminded us that we are members of a diverse, worldwide Christian family and, more than that, we are part of the Body of Christ.  The children showed us all the different ingredients which make bread and then showed us a lovely fresh loaf. This reminded us of how, when we work together, we can achieve great things, for the good of other.

Thank you to these Y5/6 pupils.
