SAFER INTERNET DAY 8/2/22
The whole school were involved in Safer Internet Day and this year the theme was 'Relationships and Respect'. We looked at different examples of online chat, and the children suggested how they would have responded if somebody was unkind to them. The main message we learnt was to speak to a trusted adult if we are worried or upset about anything online.
We've really enjoyed learning how to code using Scratch on the laptops this week.
AUTHOR EVENT 2/2/22
On Wednesday, we joined a live author event with Georgina Stevenson, author of Climate Action. We enjoyed learning about the impact of our actions on the planet and changes we can make to improve the environment.
A WELL DESERVED TREAT! 28/1/22
This week, class 3 managed to achieve their 10th and final medal, meaning they had reached their class target! The class decided they wanted to watch a movie and eat popcorn. Most children voted to watch 'Early Man' which we all enjoyed. We turned the lights off and tucked into delicious popcorn - it felt like we were really at the cinema! We are now working towards our next class target.
YORKSHIRE WATER ONLINE WORKSHOP 26/1/22
Today, we took park in an online workshop, to find out all about water. It was fascinating and we learnt lots of facts:
70% of our planet is covered in water
97% of the water on our planet is salt water that we can't drink
3% of the water is drinkable but:
2% of this water is in the polar caps (frozen), which means only:
1% of the water on our planet is in our water cycle - this is the water that the dinosaurs drank, and the water that the Romans bathed in!
We learnt how our water is cleaned and how we can save water. Thank you to Victoria and Emma from Yorkshire for a really interesting morning.
This week we have been learning how to add speech marks into our writing. We found using pasta shapes really helped!

MATHS GAMES 13/10/21
In maths we are learning about addition and subtraction. We have been working with numbers up to 100 and we've learnt about different methods to solve our problems. There are some great games at www.ictgames.com. Click on the link if you would like to do some extra practise!
MARVELLOUS MAGNETS! 11/10/21
In science we have been learning about magnets. Today, our challenge was to make our paperclip float. We were given a bar magnet, some fishing wire, Sellotape, Lego and a paperclip. We learnt that when the paper clip is suspended in mid-air, the magnet is pulling it upward and gravity is pulling it downward.
ONLINE RIVERS WORKSHOP 04/10/21
Earlier this week, we took part in an online workshop with Claire from the Rivers and Canals Trust. We learnt about well-known rivers in the UK and the world, many of which we had already heard of. The focus of Claire's workshop was to discuss flooding and why it occurs. We even looked at a map of our school and we were relieved to see that the risk of flooding is low. Thank you Claire for an exciting session, the knowledge you shared with us will really help us with the rest of our rivers topic in geography.
Today was World Mental Health Day. We all wore yellow and donated money to the charity YoungMinds.
